Public awareness programmes

We need

  • Public awareness programmes to help people recognise signs and symptoms of heart failure and understand the importance of seeking early diagnosis and care.

Why

  • Unlike other conditions of the heart, heart failure is largely unknown – very few countries in Europe have patient advocacy groups dedicated to heart failure.
  • Across Europe, only 3% of people can properly identify the main symptoms of heart failure1 and many think heart failure is a normal consequence of ageing.2

How good is people’s understanding of heart failure?
